Quantum biology: a science of tomorrow

August, 4th 2023

As part of the activities of the Quantum Bio BR Summit, the field of quantum biology was presented, on November 23rd, to around 100 high school students in Rio de Janeiro in a class at the Museu do Amanhã. Guilherme Brockington, a neuroscientist and professor at the Federal University of ABC, a researcher affiliated with the Instituto D’Or de Pesquisa e Ensino (IDOR), spoke to young students about how the most fundamental processes of quantum physics can be related to biological systems.

“The idea was to allow these students to glimpse the beauty and complexity of science and to be enchanted by the scientific explanation of life. Our wish is that the young people realize that we, Brazilians, are creative, inventive and do cutting-edge science around the world, so that they can understand that they also have the potential to be scientists, that they can be part of the future of science in Brazil ”, says Guilherme Brockington.

The social action was an initiative of the Instituto D’Or de Pesquisa e Ensino (IDOR) and the Pioneer Science program, in partnership with the Phi Institute and NGOs: Apontar Institute, Semente da Vida da Cidade de Deus Association and the Monteiro de Carvalho State School.
